Baffled Boris boffins dripping with sweat chuffed afoot fight to keep passengers fresh

TfL have put out their annual press release announcing the summer's cooling plans (cf. 2007, 2006). Despite the success Victoria's groundwater-based cooling system there's no sign of it being installed elsewhere; air-conditioned S-stock is still not due until 2010; tube trains are still too hard to cool; more industrial fans will be put in stations; more ventilation shafts will be reactivated; and generally that kind of thing.

It wouldn't have been good for TFL to have mentioned that they have been testing these fans for months. I expect Boris's team quietly chopped any such text so it sounds like he had something to do with these improvements.

Ah minor apology. It is buried in the notes to editors, though it wont have made it to print or broadcast.

I'm not surprised they need fans...

After all the hot air the mayor has come out with!

Nothing makes me quite so furious as how Boris will no doubt take credit for the S stock when it arrives... not that Ken can really take credit for it's inception (though he did step up and sort out metronet when it was needed).

Don't forget - all the new advert panels which each individually give off a little bit of heat... collectively they give off a lot... that's TfL cooling the tube!!!
